And no, I’m not talking about me and Brett…because we haven’t been alive that long.
I AM however, talking about two of the most amazing people in the world: my parents, who were married 30 years ago today, on August 1, 1981.
Before I got married, I knew that I wanted to find a love like theirs. A love that was selfless and giving and passionate. A love that was pure and deep and infinite. Because that’s what my parents have with each other, every single day. And although my parents argue from time to time, like any normal couple does, there is never a doubt in my mind that they do not love each other more than life itself.
These two taught me so much about love and marriage and what it really takes to have a loving, committed, Christ-centered marriage.
They are adventurous and fun, free spirited and best friends. Be around them for 2 minutes and you can feel their love, their spontaneous spirits and the passion they have for life and for each other.
As a child (and as an adult!) I could not have asked for better parents. They are spiritual leaders, teachers, allies and friends. I have learned more from them than I can type, but what I appreciate the most now is the lessons I learned on how to find a man worthy of my love and how to be a good wife.
Mom and Dad, you are amazing! Thank you for your love, your wisdom, your compassion, your understanding, and so much more! (I could seriously go on and on). Your love is inspiring and I couldn’t ask for better role models to model my own marriage after.
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!! I love you so much!
