It was an island weekend

Brett and I decided somewhat last minute on Friday that we would drive up to our favorite island for a little weekend-cation. Here in Florida, we were expecting a “cool front” (aka the temp was supposed to go from the high 80’s to the mid 80’s) and we knew this cool front would equal a glorious beach weekend and man were we right. It was that perfect temperature, where you could sit on the beach feeling the warm sun, but still keep comfortable by the cool ocean breeze. (which can also be kind of dangerous because you just sit there, all happy as can be, having nooo idea when a sun burn starts coming on).

We knew it was going to be a great weekend when we saw this on the ride up:

It’s hard to tell by the photo, but the rainbow was pretty darn perfect.

The hubs has yet to perfect the art of doing nothing. He has a tough time sitting still on the beach, usually resorting to wandering around and, when that gets old, taking lovely pictures of me that are usually unflattering (such as pictures of me bending over. Those butt shots are great, real great). But we are working on his “do nothing skills.” Myself, however, has perfected those skills and I enjoyed a weekend full of sitting on the beach…and then the balcony…and then by the pool..doing nothing but relaxing and reading a book or two. Doesn’t get any better than that.

the anticipated reveal of my new haircut. one week later.

that's hotness right there.

that right there was my first ever Sonic strawberry limeade. and I’m hooked so it’s now going to be a “coming home from the island must.”

It was a wonderful weekend, full of relaxing and breathing in my favorite sun screen and salt water scent. Fall’s a comin, I can feel it.

    Niiiiiiice.

We went to Marco Island for the wknd in the summer. Other than being picked up and carried away by mosquitos (umm..yea…they were literally attacking our foreheads in the pool b/c it was the only part NOT underwater)…it was great. 🙂

Love that steamy coffee shot. Now I want a cafe con leche. Yes, at 1am. 😉
