40.5 weeks

I apologize for the fact that I was too lazy to get out the real camera for this week’s update picture. Probably because I was hoping I would not BE posting an update for this week. So my IPhone pics will just have to do.

Total weight gain: -1 lb from last week, so total weight gain for my pregnancy = 33 lbs.
Baby’s heart beat:
141 bpm at today’s appointment
Baby is now the size of: A jackfruit. Which to me seems smaller than last week’s watermelon size, but hey, what do I know? My doctor is guessing she is around 7.5-8 lbs and is probably around 20-21 inches long.
Biggest craving this week: Anything that might make labor start.
Overdue update: I have been preparing for labor for about a week now. At last Tuesday’s appointment my doctor was SURE that baby would be born by the end of the week so as the weekend passed you can imagine how my patience began to die. And then yesterday came and went and I woke up  today with the sinking feeling that I had yet another weekly doctor’s appointment and baby was still no where to be seen. My appointment wasn’t scheduled until 2 pm today, but this morning I called as soon as the office opened and asked if there was any morning openings (luckily there was!) At the appointment I learned that my body was basically where it was last week-almost totally effaced and ready for labor to begin, but no more dilated. I knew there was a chance of this happening since my mom was induced with all 3 of her pregnancies and this can be genetic. Sometimes women’s’ bodies can prepare for labor, but then they don’t produce enough natural pitocin to make their body go into active labor. So it looks like that is true in my case. My doctor is going out of town Thursday so if I wanted to be induced it would either need to be tomorrow or next week. Naturally, I asked for tomorrow. A quick call to the hospital and I am officially booked to arrive at the hospital tomorrow morning at 5 am! Hopefully I will only need a very low dose of pitocin to get my labor going, but at this point, at 5 days past my due date, I am just so excited to finally meet our daughter TOMORROW!
Looking forward to: Do I even need to say? If all goes according to plan, I will be holding my daughter by tomorrow afternoon/evening!
