image photoLoving: Watching Leah and hubs together. This girl LOVES her daddy and being able to witness their sweet relationship is such a blessing. We have a routine at night where I nurse Leah in her room (she needs to nurse in her room, where it is nice and quiet and no one is around, otherwise she gets WAY too distracted!) and, when she is done, I call Brett in so he can say his good night and put her in her crib. Now, as soon as she finishes nursing, she is smiling and craning her neck to look out her door, just waiting for dada to appear.

Reading: When we were up on the island a few weeks ago I looked around for a good beach read and happened to pick up a copy of a Nora Roberts book, The Key of Knowledge. When I was in college I worked in my town’s public library during summer vacations and I used to love hearing all the old ladies talking about their obsession with the latest Nora Roberts novel, and now that’s me, reading Nora Roberts on the beach. I’ll tell you what though, the woman can write a thrilling tale!

Watching: I am still very much immersed in season 2 of Call the Midwife and I love it! Unfortunately this is my “alone time, watch an episode while Leah naps in the afternoon” show, since hubs is not interested. Brett and I have recently jumped on the Arrested Development bandwagon (what, like 10 years late or something??) and we have been watching episodes back to back on Netflix. Being only 20 minutes long I feel like we fly through quite a few a night! Brett was not convinced when we started (it was my idea to start the marathon) but, now being on season 2, I think he is finally hooked!

Listening to: My Mumford & Sons Pandora station. It always seems to have a very good selection of artists.

Thinking about: Home improvement projects….my job…Brett’s job…the need to start baby proofing the house now that Leah is on the move…the list goes on!

Looking forward to: My sister and her husbands baby which is due in December!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am so excited for them and cannot wait for Leah to have a cousin. I’m also excited that they have now made their pregnancy public knowledge so I can finally start talking about it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Loving: My job. When I first went back to work I struggled with being away from Leah (I still do at times) but lately I’ve felt at peace with being back in the swing of things. I LOVE my job and every day I feel as though I am learning so much through my work as a child life specialist that will, ultimately, only help in making me the best mother possible for Leah.
Reading: Lots and lots of books to Leah. ๐Ÿ™‚ Her current favorite is a book called “Good Night Babies” where she can take cut outs of baby animals and tuck them into bed with their mommies.
Watching:ย Hubs and I finished season 3 of Downton Abbey and I’m feeling lost without it!! The season 3 finale left me so incredibly sad (I’m telling you, I’m so sucked into this family!) and I cannot wait until season 4 is over and available on the internet so we can catch up! Until then my grandma told me about another PBS show, Call the Midwife, and I am LOVING it! Sadly, Brett is not as into it as I am…
Listening to:ย The Wailin’ Jennys. If you’ve never heard of them I highly recommend looking them up. Their music seriously soothes the soul.
Thinking about: Flying alone with Leah tomorrow. This could either go really well or really bad…I’m just hoping people on the plane take pity on me when they see that I’m alone with her!
Looking forward to: Leaving for Vermont TOMORROW with Leah!! I cannot wait to get up there and spend some time with my family. I’m also psyched to get a little taste of a northern spring!
Making me happy: Celebrating my first Mother’s Day last weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s so crazy to think back to last year, when I was 7 months pregnant, dreaming about being a mother and holding my sweet baby girl. And now, one short year later, I have this amazing little family and the sweetest baby girl who looks into my eyes while she nurses while simultaneously melting my heart.

photo photo1One of my favorite blogs, Love Matt and Kara, does a “Currently” post weekly and I always love reading hers, so I thought it would be fun to start my own! So here it goes:

Loving:ย Florida in the spring time. Yes, the Florida summer heat is starting to sneak in on some days, but for the most part it’s been gorgeous. Warm, sweet air, flowers blooming, fun walks to the playground to swing…I’m loving it all. I’m also loving Lele’s funny girl personality that’s been emerging these past few weeks. One things for sure…we have an extrovert on our hands which is so unlike her mommy it’s humorous.
Reading:ย For the first time in I don’t know how long I’m not reading anything!! I recently finished reading Graceling by Kristen Cashore on my Kindle, which was really good! Now I’m in the process of looking for a good book to start.
Watching:ย Hubs and I finally jumped on the Downton Abbey bandwagon. We aren’t that far into the series, just 5 episodes or so into Season 1, but we are loving it so far! We are all about watching entire seasons or series of shows on Netflix and/or Hulu Plus and I get upset when we finally catch up. That’s what happened with two of our other favorites, Touch and Revenge, and now we’re left waiting for an episode a week like everyone else. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Listening to:ย The Wiggles and anything from my “Sesame Street Radio” station on my Pandora. I’m such a mom and I absolutely love it. Besides when “Fruit Salad (yummy yummy!)” gets stuck in my head for 3 hours straight.
Thinking about:ย What I want for Leah when she grows up. On the way to church this morning Brett and I were talking about our hopes for Leah as she gets older. She is such a sweet, funny and outgoing baby and, if she is anything like this when she’s 10, I know she will be surrounded by friends and will be goofing around, vying to be the center of attention. I just pray that we raise her right; that she’s never a bully or a mean girl, that she surrounds herself with Christian friends who serve as a good influence (and who she serves as a good influence to as well!) and that she is smart, driven and caring. It’s a tall order, but I hope (with the help of God) we are able to raise her to be smart, kind, and beautiful both inside and out.
Looking forward to: Flying up to Vermont next month with Leah to visit two of my sisters!! (And my older sister’s husband too of course!) I’m a little nervous about flying alone with Leah (oh boy…) but I am so excited and ready for a good girls weekend with my sisters. ๐Ÿ™‚
Making me happy:ย My sweet little family and our current kitchen remodeling project finally coming together!! We got our stove/oven last weekend and bought some hardware for the cabinets and drawers this weekend and are in the process of putting all the handles/knobs on. My dream kitchen is finally starting to come together!
