Lazy weekend

So I know I haven’t blogged in quite a few days now, but it’s just been one of those weeks. A week full of work, running, going to the doctor for a skin infection (I know, gross but true), getting a hair cut and being filmed for a children’s TV show. Oh yes, being a child life specialist is never dull. I’ll talk more about the TV kid’s program another time. Like when it’s close to coming out, because I know you’ll all want to see it. And once you do, I’ll be available for pictures and autographs.

It basically rained all weekend and I loved it. It gave me the feeling of a cozy fall weekend, regardless of the fact that it’s still 85 degrees outside.

The husband and I had a relaxing weekend, making our morning Starbucks trip on Saturday morning (and getting my second pumpkin spice latte of the season!) reading, going for a rainy afternoon run, watching some good movies and getting in lots of cuddles (which are a weekend must).

Today, the pouring rain and my “fall feeling” made me decide to make my first pumpkin loaf of the season. Man I love pumpkin and I plan on eating a LOT in the next few months.

Fall continues to call to me with snuggling up to watch some afternoon movies and making baked potatoes for dinner tonight. I will post a pic to show off my new hair cut once I actually decide to make it look pretty. For now I’ll hold you all in suspense.

Happy Fall.

Thursday Thoughts

"Back off or I will cut you!!"

I forgot to add that picture in my last weekend post. One of the many adorable fiddler crabs that me and my mom chased around the parking lot, trying to save. Really, these crabs were so not considerate of the effort we were making to keep them safe. We try to save them from being squashed by cars, they run away. So ungrateful. As you can see by Sherwin’s pose (yes Sherwin. He had to have a name) he can be quite tough when backed into a corner. We left him alone because we feared for our lives after catching a glimpse of those crazy weapons.

Anyways, happy almost weekend. Things that are making me happy right now:

1. The fact that our cake is getting more delicious as it continues to soak up all the goodness.

2. The fact that me and a friend are going to Yogurt Land after work tomorrow to celebrate the weekend. Who doesn’t love a land of yogurt??

3. The fact that I come home every day to a smiling husband who hugs and kisses me right away and tells me that he loves me.

4. The fact that I just started a new book and I get excited every time I crack it open to read.

5. The fact that tomorrow is Friday and the weekend is right around the corner!

Happy Thursday!

A Florida Visit

I’ve been MIA this past week because I’ve been having too much fun with my parents, who were in town Tuesday through today. And it was wonderful. Like I’ve said before, I am a homebody and that homebody-ness extends past being with the husband-it encompasses my entire family. When I am surrounded by family my heart seriously feels the most complete and I just want to stay that way forever. Corny? Probably, but what can I say, I have an amazing family. Lucky me. And now I’m sad because we dropped my parents off at the airport today and it’s back to just me and Brett (which is obviously still wonderful).

Just look at that love!

Thursday night, after enjoying an amazing meal and homemade ice cream here in town, we traveled up to our favorite Becker vacation condo for the weekend because, really, there’s not a better place to be than on that island. Thanks to hurricane Irene (which missed us completely) we had some BIG waves. And I mean the kind of waves that catch you in the back, flinging you into a double somersault while attempting to rip off your bathing suit bottom. To some that may sound terrible, but really it was a lot of fun. Really. Regardless of the sand burns I have on my knees and thighs from being pounded into the sand every time I rode a wave. But I love the water and I’ll take any excuse to get in the ocean, crazy storm waves or not.

And I wish I took more photos, but I was too busy saving fiddler crabs from drowning in the pool and getting peed on by a frog (again, that I was saving from getting run over in the parking lot!) The weekend was amazing and I sucked up as much love from my parents as I could because I don’t know when we will get to visit again. Luckily, sucking up that love was easy because the weekend was wonderful and full of laughter, love and a LOT of fun.

These people are amazing:

And I am already looking forward to a next visit! Brett and I love company and the chance to explore our cute town like tourists and we are looking forward to the many friend and family visits we will have in the future (hopefully my sister Lauren is next!)

Hope your weekend was wonderful!
